THE Ballymoney community have raised a staggering £3,000
during a bed push street collection at the weekend.

Last Saturday, Irwin Holmes and Stephen Fletcher from
Ballymoney hit local streets to raise vital funds for BCFC A
cademy in Kitale - a deprived school in Kenya.

The local duo are both aiming to trek Mt Kilimanjaro next year to generate funds for various building projects at the Academy.

Irwin explained: "The bed push raised £2,965 and one kind person added another £35 to bring the total to £3,000

"On behalf of the Kilimanjaro team I would like to thank all the collectors for giving up their time to help us.We were amazed at the generous response from the Ballymoney public and the kind well wishes given by so many and would like to thank each and every one of them.

"The public can keep up to date on our fundraising efforts or can read about the school in Kenya on our website www.kilimanjaro2008.co.uk.

"Since our last article another trekker has joined the team, Mr James McConaghie another local Ballymoney man and his fundraising efforts will certainly increase the money we raise for the school. A number of others have shown an interest in going and we hope others will join us. "
