Team set a new stretch target = £15,000
14/04/08 – after the great success of recent fundraising campaigns the team have increased their fundraising target to £15,000. This is almost four times the original £4k that had been set out when the team first formed. The great interest from everyone supporting the team as well as the hard work organising the bed pushes, collections and other events has ensured that the funds are coming in. With just over 6 months left before the trek the team hope to hit and even surpass their new target.
Over the next year Irwin, James and Stephen are planning a number of events to raise sponsorship for 'The Kilimanjaro Challenge 2008'. There are a number of ways in which you can help either by attending an event, providing sponsorship, help organise and run an event or complete a task and ask people to sponsor you. The list below is just a guide of what is planned and is subject to change. Sign up to the email list and be kept up to date:
Any help is always appreciated...
May Day Mountain Challenge
On the bank holiday Monday in May 2008, Irwin, James and Stephen are planning to organise a mountain challenge up Slieve Donard in County Down. Anyone wishing to take part in this walk up Northern Ireland’s highest peak must register via the form on the 'Register for May Day' page or by posting the attached registration form. Each participant will require to have raised a minimum sponsorship amount of £20 for the BCFC Academy. There will be a registration fee of £5 with every entry (excluding children wishing to make the climb with parents). A free t-shirt will be provided for each entry, so please state your size upon registration.
Pay as You Weigh
Running over 20 weeks from time of registration – the ‘Pay as you Weigh’ challenge is designed so that you can donate some money to ‘The Kilimanjaro Challenge 2008’ fund as well as watch your weight and hopefully loose a few pounds over the summer and autumn period just in time for Christmas. Here’s how it works:
Sign up to the 20 week ‘Pay as you Weigh’ challenge
- Choose your sponsor: Irwin or Stephen
- Weigh yourself every Monday morning and record your new weight
- Report back to Irwin or Stephen whether you have lost weight, gained weight or stayed the same. (all info will be kept confidential)
- If you have stayed the same: contribute £1
- If you have lost weight: contribute £1
- If you have gained weight: contribute £2
So sign up today and get the scales out.
Fireside Quiz Sheets
Our quiz master Irwin has compiled a list of riddles regarding mountains of the world. With cash prizes from first to third place you can not only purchase a sheet for £1 but you can also help to sell them on. Please let the team know if you could see them in School, University, Work or at home. Come on, even you could sell a few dozen sheets for BCFC Academy.
Bed Push
Planned for September 22nd the Team are having a bed push through the town of Ballymoney to raise money for ‘The Kilimanjaro Challenge 2008’ account. There will be a number of people required to help with collecting money from the generous people of the town. If you would like to help push the bed or carry a bucket, please let us know. If not, make sure you are in the town to throw a few quid into the passing buckets.
Coffee Mornings
The boys will be running a number of Coffee mornings to raise funds for the BCFC academy. These dates will be announced in due coarse; so make sure you keep the date free and come along for some tea, coffee, biscuits and buns.
The first Coffee Morning will be held by Stephen on Saturday 6th October 07 from 11am - 4pm. The address is 12 Castlehill Drive, Ballymoney, County Antrim, BT53 6RS. Call Stephen on 07739 925394 for more details and directions.
And that is probably just the start: Surely there is something listed above that you can get involved in. If not; then you can always help by sending some money by using your sponsor card and one of the payment methods listed.
Thanks for all your help
